Our Submitted Federal Register Comments
The current regulatory proposal is straightforward, it simply rescinds the definition of “Harm,” so “Take” would now require a direct impact to a specific individual of a species rather than impacts to habitat that is essential to the individual’s survival. We’ve been working with species experts to develop short, concise paragraphs for every Federally-listed animal explaining how this change is likely to impact the species. Our comments were submitted on Friday, May 17th and we received a confirmation email that they were accepted. It's been a tough 30 days, but we ended up with the 88 page document attached. In the end we made the decision to go with quality over quantity, so we took the time to improve the sources and submit fewer species. We ended up with about 12 pages of specific comments and 75 species-specific comments. We will be posting the individual species accounts on this website as soon as we get some rest. We plan to continue to work with species experts to develop a paragraph for every single Federally endangered and threatened species. For now, here is a link to a pdf version of our comments
